I fail to see how moving from a situation where players have a lot of choices about how their characters look to one where they have few is of benefit to anyone. Just because some people seem fine with a world where everyone is exactly the same height and build. I can't believe someone would come out so strongly defending giving players less choice/customization options. Even I've been guilty of that at one point or another. Oh and the reason this genre is going backwards is because of people that QQ too much about how things use to be. I'm sorry but I find it hard to take anyone seriously that thinks the ability to create body types like in Aion is a good thing. While also thinking what they like is best for everyone. Just because of playing a few games and know what they like. Or are you yet another gamer that thinks he/she is a game design guru. So have you ever actually created a game? Excuse me, a successful game. No wonder so many people say this genre is going backwards. ![]() ![]() And now we have 'new' gen games with 100 people per instance (if that many), new instance of pretty much everything at every corner - coupled with weaker char custiomization - trying to convince us its done that way because theres no way to make open world games. ![]() Not only it had amazing char creation, but it was fully open world with no instancing (well other than some dungeons thats it), with flying, underwater combat etc. Perfect world, not sure how old is it but its surely at least 5,6 years old by now :P No, its actually even older mmo that has the best char creation, imo.
